Layout customisation

  1. Hi there, I've just activated the Imbalance 2 theme for my blog and I was wondering 2 things:

    1. I have chosen the fluid width option, but it seems to be all aligned to the left - is it possible to have the 4 columns centralised on the page?

    2. When seeing the theme "in action", I came across this blog - http://thepatternedplate.wordpress.com/ - and I love how they have been able to have a full custom header and the links to pages below horizontally. How can I do this too?

    Thank you so much for your time!

  2. 1. Fluid width will always adjust to the width of the browser window. There may be a small margin declared to the left and right of the content area to provide a visual frame for the content, but the only way to align it centrally is to not use the fluid width.

    2. I helped with that design, and it is quite a bit of work, but it is doable.

    The theme on the site you referenced when you created this thread is using the Suburbia theme, not imbalance.

  3. Here's an example showing one possible way to add a header image to the Surburbia theme to get you started:

    #wrapper {
    	background: url(http://byhandlondon.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/ziptute.jpg?w=980) no-repeat;
    	width: 980px;
    	height: 200px;
    	padding-top: 200px;
    }

    Change the url() value to an image link from your media library. Change the width value to the width of your image. Change the height value to the height of your image. Make the padding-top value match the height value.
