layout has changed

This weekend, the layout of my blog suddenly changed and I did nothing in that regard. The poems and pictures are in two columns instead of one. The archives, comments, categories, and subscription information are at the very bottom instead in a column on the right. I'll be on the road for several hours but will check back when I can. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is thebardonthehill.wordpress.com.

  2. your theme must be changed
    or
the widget must have been moved to bottom footer instead of right or left footer

  3. @thebardonthehill - The theme you are using, "Misty Look," has been added to the new "Infinite Scroll" that WordPress.com is rolling out to all themes that support it. You can read more about it here. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/to-infinity?replies=137 Additionally, there is currently a problem with Misty Look re image resizing when images are inserted by URL.

However, you have an additional problem with your sidebar. Please see this thread and try the suggestions there to resolve the problem. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/help-115?replies=13

If you are not successful after following those suggestions, please post back here and we'll try to help out further.

  4. Messed-up front page is due to bad HTML in a post. You can find the bad post by clicking on the title of each post (in your case it's the latest one). Go to Settings > Writing, tick the option "WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically", click Save Changes, then make any insignificant change to the post (e.g. add then remove a space) and click Update.

  5. @justpi-that's one of the suggestions in the tread I linked to. :)

It's been about 12 hours since I posted the problem and it's the first chance I've had to look at the replies. Seems like they range between something I've done or not done and what WordPress is doing. I'm not sure why it would be what I've done since I've been doing the same thing since May when I started and haven't had the problem. So, my guess is the later. :( :( :( Sometimes "improvements" aren't that grand. Anyway, because of my ongoing situation, I don't know when I'll have time to read the links to help and actually do anything about it. And so, I probably won't even do any quick new posts until then since it's so messed up. :( Anyway, thanks, and keep this open as unresolved until I have time to read and try what's been suggested as the remedy. Thanks again.

Be sure to read the "uh oh" at the end.
I came home today after a very stressful yesterday and started going through my emails. The first one that I came to regarding my question here was the last one by justpi. I followed those instructions and it worked. My blog's layout is back to normal. Thanks!!! In fact, thanks to all. I think another answered in much the same way before that one if I remember correctly what I saw last night while skimming responses. I will go through all the suggestions and read the links since some indicated I had other problems, too. Thanks again to all!
Here's the "uh oh". I went back to my blog just before I was going to post this and noticed that many many many (and maybe all of my posts) are showing up as I scroll down the home page, instead of the ten (I think) that I first set it up to show. I'll look to see if that has somehow come undone. But it looks like I still have some problem.

  9. You're welcome.

Your "uh oh" has been answered by Jennifer: it's not a problem with your blog in particular, it's WP adding "infinite scrolling" to themes. To get rid of the feature, see Update 7 at the bottom of this post:
    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/there-we-go-again/

  10. That is a problem that was mentioned right up at the top of the thread.

Thanks to both. That means I would have ultimately found it in my plan to go through all that was said, even though one problem had been solved. It does relieve my mind ahead of time, however, to know that you've made the solution already available. Thanks again for the wonderful support.

I finally had time to go through the steps and get rid of infinite scrolling. My biggest objection to it is that someone could read every post on blog with just one hit.

    Thanks,
