Less than successful blogs - who are you?

  1. I have had good reviews but mostly from friends and family. I would really like to hear honest comments about my blogs. Thank You =)

  2. sami,

There is a popular thread (located in "off topic") called "rate the above users blog." The reviews you'll get are hit and miss, but you can get your blog reviewed as often as you are willing to review someone else's.

If you go there, I recommend being rated more than once. One of my reviewers thought my content was brilliant but had a problem with the visual effect. The other wasn't a fan of my topic but loved how my blog looked. I can understand both sides and it's good to hear both.

  3. Less than successfull blog here (not mine) https://zodiamockingbird.wordpress.com/

I don't get why people don't read it. It's so well written.

  4. Well from what I know my blog doesn't seem to be successful, or unsuccessful, even though it's just a very basic, probably a semi bland introduction. Though I don't have any specific topic ideas yet I'm rather all for talking to people on anything they wish to say, trouble is there's either so many people to choose from, or i can't find people...second thought cross out the second thing, there's just so many people! :D

  5. I have received decent response as yet. But lately I have a feeling that it is not going as good as people who post daily (I post only weekly), or those who have made amazing relations in the blogosphere. Frankly, 7 posts down the line, I still don't know what to think :(

  7. I haven't figured out the blog traffic secret..though I do the typical stuff: participating regularily in like-topic oriented forums, comment occasionally on other people's blogs (hoping that they will reciprocate occasionally).

The thing is that on Internet forums, some posters just don't like too much self-promotion. I'm fine with that.

  8. There are certain topics that I've written that have garnered some attention. Also as someone else mentioned (maybe it was timethief), that 30% or more traffic comes from people using search keywords.

That also has been true for me. I get a secret thrill out of that simply because it probably really surprises some readers to come across my blog/post by accident. :)

  9. I've been blogging for seven months now! I'm still a virgin at this, it's a learning curve for such. Im happy if I get a comment, I like comments. I feel as though I've enriched someone's day when they leave a comment. Not sure if my blog is 'successful' but I did reach 147 hits in one day! But I also did a lot of shameless self-promotion for that and signed up for a ton of social media and tweeted my stuff, I even asked my Mom to forward my blog link on to all her email contacts. And she did.

Rome wasn't built in a day, I have to work hard in my kingdom for my kingdom to come.

I've been going over a year and although it was pretty slow at first, I'm gaining momentum the last six months.

  11. Today on the blog: I dive into the details of the historic government shutdown happening in Minnesota. As a local, I explore what is being affected in the state and how it is affecting the residents/tourists.

Feel free to leave your thoughts!

  12. Im new here and recently started a new blog in spanish, but would a blog in spanish get readers? Is there a spanish speaking community here at WP?

  13. Yes, but they're in the Spanish forums, not the English forums.

  14. I'd rather be interested in how should a stats curve look like, if you have a literally successful blog. Does a curve start slightly and adds speed chaotically or logarithmically after days/weeks/months or is it a linear...

I hope to see a naturally grown stats curve here ;)
(just started my blog, no experiences at all)

  15. And sometimes there is some semi-controversial stuff on a blog post which causes some more readers to drop or at least discover one's blog.

Actually...we do have a semi-serious one right now on one of my blogs. Trying to lie low on thread of commenters...
