   I've tried everything...can't get the lettering in my header darker...can hardly read it.

   The blog I need help with is stamperdianne.wordpress.com.

   Unfortunately, changing the color in Quintus changes the title only, not the tagline. You can create a new version of your header image in an image editing application and incorporate your blog title anf tagline in it. Then upload it via Appearance>Header and select the No Display Text option.

   Go here and change the font weight. The font used for the site description has a very narrow stroke and needs to be beefed up. You had it set at 300 and it needs to be at least 500.

   #site-description {
   font-weight: 500;
   }
