limiting front page posts

  1. I've just put my toe in the water here as an essayist, which means pages of mine require few posts to reach excessive length. I was hoping I could configure my blog such that only one entry would display on the "Home" page while still permitting pages with multiple posts to form from other queries. As far as I can tell, there is no way to set a post quantity limit for the front page without imposing that limit on all dynamically generated pages.

Am I mistaken, and if so could someone explain how to set a front page post limit distinct from the overall maximum number of posts per page? Also, if I am not mistaken and others think this is a good idea, by all means bounce this into the ideas and suggestions area. In any case, thanks to the volunteers here for their selfless service and our hosts for their wonderful creation.

You are not mistaken; that is how it works, unfortunately. :)

  4. Unless there really is an existing option for this, feel free to close out the thread. As timethief points out, I did suggest addressing this demand in Ideas.
