Line breaks do not stay (line breaks do not persist, other lines run together)

  1. Line breaks do not stay (line breaks do not persist, other lines run together)

    Dear Friends at WordPress,

    Regarding this pages and others:
    http://happybones.wordpress.com/focusing-workshop-calendar/

    Even though I have repeatedly inserted line breaks, there are still places where two lines run together in the left hand or right hand column -- e.g. in the purple section at the right side: "1234 (in Canada)" < I had put a line break, but the line break is gone, and the text it runs into the beginning of the next line "For more Information".

    Often I correct one place and then other places get ruined (run together).

    This has been happening a lot and I wonder why. I have even tried to use the html computer code for a new line, putting
    at the end of the line where I want the break to occur, but this did not help.

    Perhaps you have suggestions to remedy this problem? Would an upgrade make a difference?

    With appreciation,

    Katarina

  2. "Would an upgrade make a difference?"
    No; learning some coding would.

    The coding of your page is a mess of redundancies, probably because you've tried to do all the bolding and the coloring using the tools of the Visual editor.
    Example 1:

    <strong>The Intellectual/Emotional/Felt Sensual Adventure of a Lifetime:</strong><br />
    <strong>Exploring A Process Model</strong><br />
    <strong>with Rob Parker, PhD., SFTT</strong><br />
    <strong>Weekly teleconference</strong><br />
    <strong>Two New Groups Starting Monday September 10, 2012<br />
    </strong>

    Since all this text should be bold, you only need one opening tag at the beginning and one at the end:

    <strong>The Intellectual/Emotional/Felt Sensual Adventure of a Lifetime:<br />
    Exploring A Process Model<br />
    with Rob Parker, PhD., SFTT<br />
    Weekly teleconference<br />
    Two New Groups Starting Monday September 10, 2012<br />
    </strong>

    Example 2:

    <td><span style="color:#800080;"><strong>Level One Focusing, Encountering the Inner Relationship<br />
    </strong></span></p>
    <p><span style="color:#800080;"><strong>Four Tuesdays by Teleconference<br />
    </strong></span><span style="color:#800080;">September 25 to October 16, 2012<br />
    </span><br />
    <span style="color:#800080;">1:00  to 3:30 pm Pacific time / 5:00  to 7:30 pm Atlantic time</span><br />
    <span style="color:#800080;">(Four classes, 2.5 hrs each class = 10 hours total, 10  CEC)</span><br />
    <a href="http://happybones.wordpress.com/introduction-to-focusing/#FL1">Description of Level 1 Focusing</a></td>

    Since all this text should be purple, then the coloring should be applied once for all to the td tag, so no opening and closing span tags (plus you've got wrong p tags):

    <td style="color:#800080;"><strong>Level One Focusing, Encountering the Inner Relationship<br />
    Four Tuesdays by Teleconference</strong><br />
    September 25 to October 16, 2012<br />
    1:00  to 3:30 pm Pacific time / 5:00  to 7:30 pm Atlantic time<br />
    (Four classes, 2.5 hrs each class = 10 hours total, 10  CEC)<br />
    <a href="http://happybones.wordpress.com/introduction-to-focusing/#FL1">Description of Level 1 Focusing</a></td>
  3. All these unnecessary HTML tags mean that it's very difficult if not impossible to place the cursor exactly where it should be placed for a line break in the Visual editor. To add a line break after "1234 (in Canada)" the way the code is at the moment, you need to switch the editor to Text and add a br tag where I'm showing:
    <span style="color:#800080;">Telephone: 778-859-1234 (in Canada)</span>INSERT BR TAG HERE<span style="color:#800080;"><strong>For more </strong>

    The correct form of the br tag is this:
    <br />
