Link a slideshow to an image or icon

  1. Hi, there,

I'm building a portfolio for my print design business, and I need help with my "work" page. I'm hoping to add 6 or 9 portfolio categories to my "work" page (i.e., "photography," "illustration," "album artwork," etc.). Each category would be represented by an image of one of my projects along with the title of the category. I want my clients to be able to click on the "photography" icon and pull up a slideshow of my photography.

Is there any way to achieve this on WordPress.com? I can add an image and link it to an outside website or a page within my own website, but I can't figure out if it's possible to link it to a slideshow, so that when the picture is clicked, a particular slideshow opens up. Does that make sense?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    H

The blog I need help with is hmahercreative.wordpress.com.

  2. Of course! You can use your Work page as an index and create those slideshows on subpages linked from the index page. See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

OT-I don't know if you are talking about the site linked to your username or not, but that is a lovely customization of Pilcrow!

  3. Hey, Jennifer,

Thanks for the reply! But actually, rather than linking to an entirely separate page, I'm hoping to be able to link that image to a pop-up slideshow. For example, check out http://www.holleymaher.com/officialphotos. When I click one of the images in that gallery, the grey screen pops up and I'm able to scroll through all of the photos. What I'm hoping to do on http://www.hmahercreative.com/work is create several separate galleries, and when I click the icon for one of them (say "album artwork"), rather than an entirely new page opening, I'm hoping that I can make it so that the grey screen pops up and I'm able to scroll through all of my album artwork projects. Then, you could press escape and still be on my "work" page so you can click on another set of projects, rather than having to push the "back" button because you've just jumped to an entirely new page.

    Does that make sense?

    H

  4. PS- thanks for the compliment on the Pilcrow theme!

  5. At the moment the only feature on WordPress.com that causes a pop up is the Gallery feature. Clicking on any Gallery thumbnail image will open the Photo Carousel.

The Slideshow, however, is still embedded.
