Link My Image

I would like to place an image from my gallery into the sidebar. I want to be able to click on that image and have it take me to another site in a new window. How can I do this?

I do not want the image to be from a url address. I want more than just a link title to show up in the side bar.

I'm trying to figure this all out because I now know that I can not use Javascript here and I can not figure out how to convert my Javascript to HTML.

The blog I need help with is buttahflychronicles.wordpress.com.

  2. Please start with a link to your blog, starting with http://

  4. To do it without HTML, open a new post and insert your image from your media library (be sure to choose a small enough size to fit in the sidebar). Click the pic, get to the mountain icon, and thus get to the visual editor. In the "Edit Image" screen, use the box next to "LINK URL" add the url of the site you want to link to. Switch to "Advanced Settings." This is where you choose "TARGET" check "Open Link in a New Window." Save.
Switch to the HTML editor, copy the code.
Go to your text widget and paste the code in it.
    Done!

I've been making those mobius scarves—they're fun.

  5. I do not understand this part "I do not want the image to be from a url address." Can you rephrase that? Images displayed on the web ALL have URLs.

  6. I forgot, you can delete the draft post once you get your text widget working as you like. But I usually save it (but not publish it) so I have a copy of what's in my text widgets right there on my dashboard. If you change themes, it's wise to have copies of your text widget codes.

  7. Great Instructions for this. Thank you.
