I've uploaded a picture to wordpress.com. Now I put the thumbnail plus linked image in the post, but if I click it, the image doesn't get displayed, instead it gets downloaded! If I use - for example - flickr hosted images, everything works as expected. May this have something to do with wordpress.com sever MIME type settings?

I see that just as I would have expected in the browser.
Yes, it is working for me too, now. Maybe something has been changed in the "background", or the image just needed it’s time to be recognized?!
If it was a MIME issue, others would be yelling about it. Not sure what the issue was but it appears that it's working now. *shrug* Might have been a fluke.
