I would rather my new posts which are sent out to all fourteen of my followers would not appear in their entirety. I subscribe to a friend's blog, and when hers reaches me, to read her post, I have to click a link. How do I change mine so they work that way, too?

You can change the RSS Feed setting to "summary" on this page > Settings > Reading
However, if what you want to do is create excerpts in posts on the front page of your blog then you will need to split the text by inserting "the more tag".
