Linking up troubles

  1. Am having trouble posting a link to my Etsy website. ..in my new post.

Is that verboten? If so, I apologize. And leave with my red face in my hand. :)

The blog I need help with is tessf.com.

  2. If you have an Etsy shop, you can display clickable thumbnails of items from your shop (or your favorites) in your sidebar. Please see here > Adding an Etsy widget

  3. Thanks so much, timethief! I kind of feel uncomfortable leaving those links in my blog. ..would rather just have them in the side margins anyway. Marketing one's art is hard and painfully awkward altogether, but we have to eat somehow too. :)

  4. You're welcome and best wishes with your blog. :)

  5. Hmmm I wonder if the mini code has changed since March as the flashcode I'm getting is different from what is shown in the directions. Mine looks like this :<script type='text/javascript' src='http://www.etsy.com/assets/js/etsy_mini_shop.js'></script><script type='text/javascript'>new Etsy.Mini(5891829,'gallery',4,3,0,'http://www.etsy.com');</script>

And I can't seem to find the things that are needed from it to paste into the code for the text widget.
Also I'm wondering how to put widgets in the side bar on the left? is that the secondary sidebar?

So I'm lost as usual. I'm so sorry to be stupid. :)

  6. a) Check the August 12 to August 18 series of comments on my post:
    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/03/06/etsy-widget/
The flash widget still works but they don’t give the flash code anymore: to create the widget, just get your user ID number and use the code model and the rest of the instructions I’m giving in the post.

    b) 2010 doesn't have a left sidebar. The "Secondary" sidebar in Appearance>Widgets is just a second widget area below the first.

  7. Ahh. ..thanks. I will see if I can't get that going now! :) Much appreciated.
