Links in previews and posts are inconsistent

I am blogging on a WordPress.com site. I have done all of my writing directly in the Visual editor, however I have copied and pasted URLs from the address bar of my browser.

One link, written "inline" with other text, insisted on adding an extraneous forward slash to the end of the address when clicked, breaking the link, ie: "http://website.com" ==> "http://website.com /". The only way to solve this was to put the link on its own line.

Other links, written on their own lines by using SHIFT+ENTER, are published having empty lines above and below them despite no such empty lines existing in the Visual editor display. I have tried to get rid of these empty lines with no success.

Any advice is appreciated. So far, not really impressed with WordPress.com.

    Regards.

The blog I need help with is greenmajority.ca.
