Links or Tags capability shut down for over 12 hours

    Today is Sunday & my blog posts every Sunday at 12 am. So I am already over 8 hours behind schedule.

    Since early last night I have not been able to add any links or tags to blog posts.

    The tag button is not-active (sits there dead & doesn't respond) & if I attempt to add a link, the whole blog post dashboard shuts down & redirects itself to the main dashboard.

    Please help.

    Hello there,
    Will you please try some troubleshooting so we can trace the cause of this down and correct it? How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

    Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

    Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

    Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.

    Do you have third party cookies enabled? Do you have another browser you can try?

    Hello Timethief,

    Just within this hour it started to work again. But it still had glitches. After I posted my blog post, it didn't appear on the homepage for a time even though it sent out announcements about the new post via email subscription. People could access the post via their email by clicking on the link, but if someone went to the blog/homepage, the post was invisible. It seems OK now (after I went back to WordPress & published it again), but this is another strange thing to notice/report.

    To answer some of your questions...

    How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com?
    I am at home with high speed cable internet using a Mac laptop.

    There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.
    There should be a proxy server if I am going straight through wordpress, no?
    I'm writing on my blog through the wordpress dashboard with going through another source.

    Which browser and version of it are you using?
    I can look into this, but it (wordpress) is allowing me to submit tags & links to blog posts now. So do you still think it can be my browser?

    Do you have third party cookies enabled?
    I don't know what this means. Sorry.

    Is your browser version up to date? Flash up to date?
    I can definitely update them if you think I should.

    It does seem like it's a problem on WordPress' end. But I will do anything you suggest to keep this from happening again.

    I have had the same problem since yesterday. I keep trying to edit my draft post to insert a link. It appears to insert, but as soon as I go to preview, or visual, the link disappears.

    I am also on high speed cable on an iMac. I've tried emptying cache and removing cookies - no change. I am at the most recent version of Safari for my OS.

    The ISP you use uses proxy servers and that's what I was referring to above. Specifically there maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

    As you do not know which browser and version of it you are using please click this link and click the link. The result that display will provide tell you which browser and version of it you are using.

    Thanks for speaking up. :) What you described is exactly what I was experiencing since yesterday. -- Has it changed for you? Because at 12 noon (or so) today, it began to allow me to add links & tags to drafts/posts.

    No - I have tried again repeatedly today, using Firefox and Safari - no luck at all.

    My info: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.2.23) Gecko/20110920 Firefox/3.6.23
    I have checked that my Safari is 5.0.6.

    Have you tried using Chrome? http://www.google.com/chrome?platform=mac

    I imported Chrome and loaded it. Exact same problem... I notice that after I fill out the "insert link" form, the code shows up in the correct spot. However, if I click on the Visual tab, or Save then Preview, it is gone everywhere.

    More info: I tried it from another computer - a Macbook Air, same thing. HOWEVER if I did Insert Link, but did NOT check the Open another window box, what I got was the text (only) inserted, and that text did not disappear when I went to Visual or Preview.
