Links template page: Only some categories

  1. I just joined WordPress.com and I have created my first blog. I decided to use the Pilcrow Theme because it has its own links template page (I have too many links to use the links blogroll widget). I would like to know if it is possible to show specific link categories only when using the links template page and, if it were possible, how it is done. All solutions I have found on the internet involve introducing changes in the template file, but as my blog is hosted in WordPress.com, I do not have access to it.

Moreover, looking for a solution on my own, I tried to solve this by attaching "/?taxonomy=link_category&term=XXXX" to the URL. However, it did not work. A solution of this kind would also be fine, if the links template page cannot be altered in any way.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

The blog I need help with is portrezetres.wordpress.com.

  2. You need the display-posts shortcode:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/display-posts-shortcode/
(Can be used on any theme.)

  3. I'd say the display-posts shortcode only works with posts, not with links (or I am missing something on how to use it). In any case, I will take note of it, as I like what it does.

    Any other idea?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Sorry, I must have been absent-minded when I replied...
What you can do is temporarily select the links template, publish the page, view its sourcecode, copy the sections you want, then edit the page again, paste those sections into the Text (=code) editor, switch to default template.

  5. Oh, do not worry. I discovered something, thanks to that. I think that could be a suitable work around, if I am not going to update the links list very frequently... Until someone arrives with a better idea, I keeo this one. Thank you!
