I just started working on a new wordpress.com blog over at inliterature.wordpress.com using the brilliant liquorice theme.
I was wondering if we could add a full-width static page in this theme (and make it the default home page, too.)

May I suggest you expand on why you want a full-width static page that becomes the home page?
Umm... I should have posted it in the Themes section. Will keep in mind!
Now, see, the home page of the blog at inliterature.wordpress.com looks a little scattered. I wanted to use a static full width page with some large JPEG buttons because I wanted the blog to have a sort of a splash page. Look at this concept image. against the blog at inliterature.wordpress.com:

Also note that in this concept, the navigation menu which the liquorice theme is gone! Can we do it onboard WordPress than in Photoshop! :)

Or if there's any other theme with good typography and custom header (like liquorice) that lets me get rid of the navigation (or allow category pages to appear in the navigation) and has a full-width option? :/
