   Is there a way to display a list of recent posts from a category in the sidebar using a wordpress.com blog?

   I figure that I can use html to create a manual list, but I am looking for a way to make it automatic..

   The blog I need help with is testwrcs.wordpress.com.

   Hi. Yes, you can do that by using the RSS Widget...
   http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-widget/

   ...combined with the link to the feed of the category in question. Example (from my blog):
   http://airodyssey.wordpress.com/category/tv-commercials/feed/
   ("tv-commercials" is the name of the category)

   This suggestion may or may not be helpful. All WordPress.com blogs have category feeds. This is the format for a category feed on WordPress.com blogs:
   http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/category/categoryname/feed/
   The RSS Widget displays posts from any RSS feed and you can configure it to display a number of entries in a given category.
