LJ Import - Selective/filtering? Don't want the whole thing

  1. I've eight years of near-daily LJ entries, and do not want to migrate ALL of them to WP. I've looked at all of the documentation, searched Support and The Forums, and Google. I downloaded LJArchive (haven't run it, yet), and I do have LJ exports in CSV (done about a year ago). I have a couple of questions related to that and import in general. I hope that someone can help me with a work-around.

    1) First and foremost: If this gets messed up, can it be undone? On a related note, if I'm screwed and have to import the entire thing, what are my options for trashing the stuff I don't want? If the tag --> category mapping turns out okay, can I filter by category and "toggle all" to delete or some such thing?Speaking of en masse, if I'm screwed and have to import the entire thing, what are my options for trashing the stuff I don't want? If the tag --> category mapping turns out okay, can I filter by category and "toggle all" to delete or some such thing?

    2) The WP import page for LJ looks like it's going to import the entire thing (as there are no options whatsoever aside from entering account info). I can't find anywhere to upload a CSV. If that can even be done, is it correct to assume I could just delete the posts I don't want to import from the CSV file?

    3) Is there any way I can do selective import based on attributes such as tags or date? Maybe even keyword? Doesn't look like there's a tool for this, so again, this might go back to being able to do something with a CSV and I need to know how to upload one now that the fancy importers are in place. :)

    4) All of my LJ is currently friends only (there are a few privates). I used to mass-security tool to do that about a year ago, but allowed my paid account to expire so I can't change them back en masse. That's an advantage in the case that I am forced to import the whole thing, but since there's a low chance I'll be that desperate, please tell me there is a way to adjust WP security/visibility en masse via toggle or whatever.

    Thanks so much!

I was a web dev for almost ten years. Though I'm out of the loop now, I think I can handle some extra footwork (i.e. don't absolutely need a pretty tool). I was a web dev for almost ten years.
