Logging in to protected blog

  1. hey guys,

I'm in a spot of bother. I have set up a password protected blog for a showreel. I only want it to be visible for certain people so I set up a password. Only, how can people view the blog if they don't have an account? Do I have to set them up as Users and if so, does this mean they have to have their own wordpress account in order to view my blog?

    Thanking you all in advance,

    Mark.

  2. Yes they are required to set up a WordPress.com account but they are not required to add a blog to their account.

Here is more information about adding users to your blog. → Adding Users / User Roles

  3. Thanks a lot slikbonez for the quick reply.

  4. Have another quick question. :-)

If i've set my entire blog to private, is there any need to then also set each post to private? or does a private blog mean that all posts are also only visible to users that i choose?

    again thanking you in advance.

    mark

  5. No and Yes. :)
Blog Visibility has three options which are described here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
    See 3

You would use this setting to create a private blog. If selected, another area will appear where you can control which WordPress.com users will be able to log into your blog to read it (those users will only be able to read your blog, they will not get access to your dashboard to edit your blog, please see this section if you want to give people edit access)http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
