I have my website on WordPress.com. I saw your list of vendors of "developer support" but do any of them work with personal websites i.e. small projects? I would like my website to be more customized, better organized and better looking. I know it's supposed to be easy to do but would rather pay someone a reasonable amount because of the saving in time.
So, please let me know if there are firms that will work on small projects.

I'm not really sure if any work with small personal projects necessarily, but it wouldn't hurt to ask, especially if you find one in your price range.
Otherwise, I'd strongly recommend giving it a shot yourself. If you run into trouble, the community at http://en.forums.wordpress.com/ is really helpful, and we'll of course be here too.
