Lost a whole entry cause I wasn't logged in anymore

  1. I was writing for over an hour on a post, and I saw it autosaving. But when I clicked on post an error occured and my post is nowhere, not even in my draft. Is there any way to recover it?

The blog I need help with is ddive.wordpress.com.

  2. If it autosaved, it is somewhere. Have you checked Dashboard->Posts->Drafts?

  3. I found one of mine in the feedback part once. Only happened once, but that is where I found it.

  4. Please go to screen options and enable full accesibility mode. You want to be sure that the Posts and Pages modules are not hidden so your can access Post Revisons.
Posts – Post Tags, Categories, Excerpt, Send Trackbacks, Discussion, Comments, Post Slug, Post Author, Post Revisions
Page – Page Attributes, Recommendations, Featured Image, Discussion, Comments, Slug, Author, Revisions

Then you can try to restore the part of the posted you created while being logged in > Recovering a lost blog post or page

You can look the last autosave for Posts » Post Revisions
You can look in the last autosave for Pages »Page Revisions

  5. Hey, thanks a lot for all your replies!

Unfortunatelly I was not able to restore the post. If you think, impossible! then this is what happened:

I was not logged in anymore as I wrote it, which I didn't notice. When I klicked preview I was referred to a new tab to log in, which I did, everything disappeared, I was shocked. Then I went back to the old tab, saw everything again, relieved. So all good now, I thought, pressed publish, it loaded an whooom, error message. Ever since my post is gone...

Oh how I regret that I didn't press "select all + copy" just to be sure!

I also wonder why it was autosaving or where to... But since I wasn't logged in, I guess the save was not associated with my blog.

But as I said, thanks so much for the help anyway, now I can be sure that I have checked everything before giving up ; )

  6. You should see it in the history by clicking "back" arrow of your pc.
Hope and wish that will work.

You are correct. When you aren't logged in to your blog the autosave is not operational.
