Lost all posts, images and theme

    I am not sure what is going on with my client's WordPress site. Everything looked normal on Friday. I used the export feature to export the XML file backup and the site still looked normal after that. However, when I logged in today through the admin panel, all of the posts are gone except for one, the theme has been changed and all of the images are missing from the media folder. I thought perhaps WordPress was experiencing some issues, but the problem is still persisting. How do we get it resolved and get the blog back to where it was on Friday when everything was correct?

    The blog I need help with is parentingwithscripture.wordpress.com.

    Hi there,

    There were many posts that were deleted by the user 'karadurbin' two days ago. You can retrieve the 38 posts that were deleted from the Trash folder here.

    I will check with her on that. However, it doesn't explain what happened to the theme or all of the images in the media section.

    I was able to restore the posts but how do I get back the images and the theme? I am pretty confident that she did not delete any of this. I can only assume that it was hacked.

    Also, there should be a total of 82 posts (68 published, 14 drafts, 1 trash). How can I get it restored to where it was on Friday when all the posts were there, along with the images and theme.

    There is no such thing as a theme reset here but changing themes is easy to do and no data is ever lost. You can go here Dashboard > Appearance > Themes and select a new theme and activate it. After you change your theme all you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install them where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.

    P.S. As you are already using a theme it will not appear as a theme selection that you can make here > Appearance > Themes but all the other themes will be there to choose from.

    how do I get back the images

    If the images have not been deleted permanently they can be restored form Trash. There are separate trash folders for posts, pages, comments, and uploads. http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash
