lost photos in migration from live spaces

  1. I recently migrated my Africa blogs to word press since Microsoft said the change was coming. Somehow, the photos that accompanied my blog posts have disappeared! Each one has one picture at the very top and then nothing but the text that was in the blog. The remaining photos are gone. :-(
Anyone know what happened and how I get them back? I'm not very tech saavy and am having difficulty navigating my way through these new maze....

The blog I need help with is lulu480.wordpress.com.

  2. You appear to be using the Monotone theme and that's the way it's designed. From http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/monotone/ :

Will the theme work with more than one image in a post?
The theme will only use the first image in any given post.

Try switching to another theme (over 90 others you can choose from) and see if your other pictures appear. If you're still having difficulties recovering your pictures, ask Staff to help you:

  3. Nice pictures by the way :-)

  4. Hey airodyssey... your suggestion worked! I found one that was sort of what I want in terms of format but I don't particularly like the background. However, it's good enough for now... until I get comfortable with wordpress I'm going to leave it as it is.
    Thanks again for the suggestion!!

  5. Just a suggestion, you burned a lot of bandwidth when I loaded your site - ran my DSL link wide open over a minute - most people bail after 5 or 10 seconds, I would not go back. Think about using the "more" command to show only one or two pictures per Post, do your regular visitors really need to see however many 100 pictures each time they visit your site? If a visitor wants to see all the pictures with a Post they can then click on the read more. The More command also makes it easier to your visitors to page down the page and see the other content.

  6. @lulu480: You're welcome. And I agree with what mike99362 said. More info about the "more" tag here:

  7. I have the same problem. I just migrated my Live Messenger Space with WordPress but now I cannot find any of the Albums in my Space and lost thousands of photos!!!!!!! I do not have backup so what can I do now????????? I can't see them on WordPress!

Is there "Album" area in WordPress or just for blogs with a few photos attached??? If not, then it's horrible and how can I retrieve the Albums???

  8. @jadetang: If you would have carefully read the entire thread you just hijacked, you would have noticed that NO, you don't have the same problem.

This being said, don't panic. From http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrading-from-windows-live-spaces/ :

Where did my photo albums go?
If you didn’t use the images in blog posts, they won’t be moved to WordPress.com. However, you will still be able to find them by going to Windows Live Photos, where you’ll see all of your albums.
