I was just writing a 1800-word post, which was being autosaved as a draft as usual. When I'm satisfied with it, I click on publish and... nothing. It publishes the "post", by which I mean it just remembers the category and the title, with none of the text I worked so hard to write. Any way to recover this?
The blog I need help with is visiblesilence.wordpress.com.
Have you looked for post revisions? The Post Revisions module shows any backup copies of your post. Each time you click Save Draft or Update Post, a revision is saved. WordPress.com will store the last 25 revisions for each post on your blog. Post Revisions allow you to look back at the recent changes you’ve made and revert to an earlier version if you need to.
If you cannot see post revisions then go to the top right hand corner of your Admin page and click "screen options" then check "posts" module so post revisions are displayed.
Can't see any revisions. It shows as if I had never written anything on it, apparently. And there are no saved drafts either.
Did you really type 1800 words without ever clicking "save draft"? If you clicked it just once then the autosave would have created a revision.
Or aren't you seeing the Revisions module on the editor screen? If not, click Screen Options (top right) to activate it.
I've been writing my blog for 18 months and have done it the same way every time. I finish the post, add pictures and click preview. I check out the post as it would look in the blog and close it out. Sending me back to the post. I click on the publish button and nothing happens. I click it again and it disappears. All but the heading. I've rewritten the post four times and every time when clicking the publish button nothing happens. Then when clicking the publish button a second time it disappears. Why? How do I correct this this?
