Make header appear on home page only

  1. I am not new to WordPress but am new to customising a theme. I am currently using the Chaoticsoul theme and would like the header image (or banner) to just appear on the home page. Currently, this image displays on every page created. I have read that the header.php file (whenever that is located) needs to be edited and I have read that I have to edit my CSS file. any help would be appreciated.

    The blog I need help with is optiqueiowa.wordpress.com.

  2. At wordpress.COM, we do not have access to the underling theme PHP files as this is a multi-user platform which means we all share the same underlying files.

    This can be done if you have the CSS upgrade and some CSS experience, and actually if you want to try the code below in the edit CSS window and click preview you can take a look. You might have to force refresh the preview page as it has been flakey lately.

    .page #headerimg {
    display: none;
    }
  3. Note that the above will only remove the header image from the static pages (about, etc.). If you want it removed from the categories, tags and archives pages, more code will be required.

  4. Amazing... been trying to get this done for days... Thanks

  5. You are welcome.
