Make post readable in two different languages?

  1. Is there any way to make my post readable in two different languages without putting the translation in the post directly. What I mean is, is there some widget which allows you to give the option to the reader to switch between original and translation and you can write both the original and translation.

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is alliedenergycorporations.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi jamescgibson,

Unfortunately, there is not a translator widget on WordPress.com. The closest option would be putting different translations on your blog using a Text widget:

Let me know if this helps at all.

  3. Thanks for the response.

I'm not quite clear. Where would I be putting the text widget - on the sidebar?

  4. James,

This may not be the most elegant solution, but if I understand what you're looking for, how about this?

After you've written and published a post in language one, recreate the post except this time create it as a page, and write it in language two. Then go back to the original post and add a link to the alternative language page.

  5. Here are some additional suggestions for running a multilingual blog:

  6. Automatic translation is not available to WordPress.com blogs. If you are bilingual or multilingual and want to publish your free hosted WordPress.com in two or more languages but do not want to rely on machine translation that can be done see here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/02/25/wordpress-com-multilingual-blogs/

We do not have FTP access and we bloggers cannot install any plugins, we cannot use Microsoft or Google translation widgets or any others, as they are JavaScript and it's stripped out to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

However, I have translation on my WordPress.com blogs. There are two workarounds and you will find them here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/02/14/translation-widget-for-wordpress-com-blogs/
Note: You can copy and paste the code on my Translations page and then replace every occurrence of my blog's URL in the code with your own blog's URL.
