Manifest: how to make dropdown subpages appear vertically not horizontally?

  1. Hello All,

I've been happy with my Manifest blog (with custom upgrade) for some time, but am running into a problem creating dropdown subpages under my menu 'tab' pages.

As it is right now, I have 6 'tab' pages in my menu, running left to right under my header. I want to add (2) subpages under the last of these pages (the "Engagement" tab). I've done this following the usual instructions of creating a two new pages (I've called them "Subpage" and "Subpage 2" for now), nesting it under "Engagement" in the Appearance--> Menus dashboard page, and clicking save.

It has made these subpages just fine, except that it displays them horizontally across the page, not as a dropdown menu, making it impossible to click if you are hovering over the main menu Engagement tab because they are so far to the left. If you are on already on the Engagement tab they remain visible even if you are not hovering so you can click on them then.

I believe this person had the same problem, and it was some kind of bug...is this correct?

However, this is happening for me in Chrome and Firefox, not just IE. Can anyone help with this?

    Two questions:

    1. How to I make my subpages appear vertically directly under the main menu tab page, like a standard drop-down menu, when hovering over that tab?

    2. How do I make it so when you are on the Engagement page, the drop down menu options (Subpage and Subpage 2) are only visible when hovering over that tab?

Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance for your help!

The blog I need help with is laurenware.me.

  2. I see someone has added the tag "move to CSS forum please". Am I supposed to move it? I don't want to double-post...

I only put it in the "Theme" forum because the other person having a similar problem (the post I linked to above) posted in the Theme forum, and their problem seemed to be resolved there. Sorry!

Hi lpwhw, you won't be able to move the thread, it's been tagged for a member of staff to move into the correct forum where there are people who may be able to help you.

  4. Look at Anna Montana doing some support :P It must be a slow day killing zombies :)

  5. @lpwhw
I flagged this thread so our Noderators or Staff will move it to the CSS editing forum. Please be patient while waiting for help with your CSS editing.

  6. Thanks Insanity! Best of luck with those zombies. :)

  7. edit: "Noderators " was meant to be Moderators" sorry about the typo.

  8. Ah, and thanks timethief for the explanation. Sorry for asking about the tag, I just wasn't sure if there was anything else I needed to do. I really appreciate all the support.

  9. I apologize for not telling you immediately that I had flagged the thread.

  10. [Just a note to say that in the meantime I have changed the names of the relevant subpages. "Subpage" and "Subpage2" are now titled "Public Events & Press" and "Beauty Blog", respectively. Both are still listed under the "Engagement" tab, where I hope to learn how to make them appear as a dropdown menu. Thanks!]

The bug mentioned in that thread was marked as resolved. It's possible that it snuck back in, but I tested the menu for http://manifestdemo.wordpress.com/ with IE9 and it worked for me without any troubles.

It also appears you've changed themes and you're using Chateau now. I'm going to mark this thread as resolved since there have been so many changes by the time I got to it. If you need further help, please start a new thread. Thanks!
