Manifest Theme - Making tags invisible and captions issue

  1. Hi,

    I'm trying to make my blog (Manifest theme) as sleek as possible and would like to make the 'Published', 'Filed Under' (categories) and Tags lines at the bottom of each post invisible, or remove them. I understand that removing them from the post would defeat having them for the purposes of search engines etc, so maybe make them the same colour as the background?

    Also, my image captions aren't centered, I have searched the forums and found a few stylesheet ammendments but with no success.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hamish.

    The blog I need help with is adayendinginy.wordpress.com.

  2. To hide all of the post meta data in the Manifest theme, try the following:

    .post-meta {
    display: none;
    }

    That will remove dates as well though. If you'd like to hide the tags and categories but keep the date, try this:

    .post-meta {
    visibility: hidden;
    }

    .post-meta .post-date {
    visibility: visible;
    float: left;
    }

    With regard to search engines... if you hide the tags and categories from view, it may also hide them from search engines. Search engines get more sophisticated over time and learn to detect such things. To find what each search engine's policies are for sure, you would need to check with them directly. I am not a search expert, but I do know there's a lot of misinformation about search engines on the internet. Also, search engines can change their policies and algorithms at any time. You might try setting up webmaster tools as one way to find out more information about how search engines see your site.
