   Hey!

   I am in the process of transferring my travel blog from TravelBlog.org to WordPress, and I want to make the transition as smooth as possible for my current subscribers.

   Ideally, I'd like to manually add each of their email addresses to my blog, and they have to do nothing further. However, I understand that they might need to click a link in an email to confirm that they are happy to receive further emails from WordPress.

   How do I set this up? I am aware that I can probably email a 'subscribe here' link to everyone (not actually sure how/where though), but I don't want my 80-year old grandparents to freak out and end up missing out on our blog updates.

   I've checked out existing forum posts, as well as some plugins, but couldn't really find anything that appeared to do what I wanted.

   I'd really appreciate any help / advice.

   First of all, you should know that we cannot use plugins here on WordPress.com. Those are available only on self-hosted WordPress.ORG installs.

   As far as uploading a subscriber database, there's really no way to do this here. You can however send your subscribers an update note from the old blog address and point them in the direction of the new blog address. For those who have difficulty subscribing, you could sign out of WordPress.com and then subscribe with their email address. They'll still have to confirm their subscription here.

   By the way, beware of duplicate content on the web. Search engines may penalize your site's ranking for it.
