I added the meebo widget to my blog and followed the steps for setting up an account; copying, pasting, and saving the code in wordpress; and signing in to Meebo. I tried moving the widget and I can see a gap where it should appear, but the widget never displays.
The blog I need help with is infofairy.wordpress.com.

Meebo widgets normally display on wordpress.com blogs. I'm surprised you had this experience. Did you follow these instructions which are specifically for wordpress.COM blogs? http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/meebo-widget/
Yes. I followed the instructions as I did it. Then I triple check it. I cannot see that I did anything different from the instructions.
I see the widget in your sidebar. I expect that it's just taking a very long time to load because of the connection you're on. If you were on a faster connection, it would load faster.
Try the Cookie Dance: Log out, clear browser cache and cookies, restart computer.
