I'm trying to customize the CSS for the Twenty Eleven theme. When I copy and paste the original style sheet into the editor and preview, the menu bar goes from black to white making the links impossible to read. I like the black menu bar and don't want to change it, I just want to work with other parts of the code.
The blog I need help with is cuecoreps.wordpress.com.
Do not copy and paste the stylesheet into the CSS edit window. At wordpress.COM, we have to do things a little differently or what you describe can happen. What you want to do is to put in only the specific selectors and only the specific declarations that you are adding or changing.
Delete all the stuff you put into the CSS edit window, make sure "add to existing..." is selected and then click save stylesheet to return to the original. Then copy and paste the original stylesheet into a plain text file and then pull out of that only what you need.

I would like to change the colour of the menu bar on the Twenty Eleven theme, but I'm a novice with CSS. Where at in the code can I find this? Any help would be great. I want to change it to a brown colour. Thank you!
The menu bar in twenty eleven is actually a CSS3 linear gradient. The first color code in the background declaration is the top color, and the second is the bottom color.

You can stay with the gradient, or you can use a solid color of your choice by adding this to the CSS edit window and editing the hex color as desired.
