Migrate from Joomla to WordPress

  1. Hi,

I'm running a technology+business+innovation site supported by Joomla which has became rich in content and visitors, but after the initial kick off, it has converged to a collaborative site influenced by visitors comments and contents. Due to this change in the philosophy, I'm thinking about moving from Joomla to a more collaborative tool (WordPress), as long as most of Joomla features are not really needed to develop the the site (forum, user registration, ..) and WordPress provides other powerful tools.

Is there anybody who already executed a migration from Joomla to WordPress or has any useful information to avoid manual migration (or at least part of)?

    Thanks.

  2. Our exporter at wordpress.com handles blogs from Blogger, Typepad, Movable Type and Live Journal http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/09/import-from-blogger-typepad-mt-lj/

I could not find anything in the forum searchbox that seemed to be helpful when it comes to exporting from Joomla. If your Joomla blog has an rss feed then perhaps the method outlined here may be useful http://options.wordpress.com/2006/04/09/howto-import-into-wordpresscom-from-another-weblog-using-rss-feed/

Best wishes for a happy ending. :)

  3. I am working on improving the script found here which would work on importin to WP 2.2:
    http://rangit.com/software/6-steps-how-to-migrate-from-joomla-to-wordpress/

The changes that came in 2.3.2 or a little before? changed the categories table to term table and that links up to 1-2 taxonomy related tables. I am just wondering which tables and fields are at play when: A new p2ost is created which is assigned a category and tags? If anyone could point me in the right direction it wont be long before I can update this script to work on 2.3.2

  4. You're in the wrong spot, azee1v1. We're the MU platform here. 2.3.2 is supported at:
