Migrating from a paid content management system to WordPress

    I proposed taking my current hospital/organization to WordPress. That would include our web site, intranet and mobile site. I have been working this through the channels for months and was able to finally present to our VP of IS/Senior Leadership. The presentation was a total success and lays the groundwork for moving forward early next year.

    My big question for you (the wordpress world) have you seen any companies that have documented their transition from a paid/larger content management system to WordPress? The VP asked that I provide a “process” of how this will occur/documentation of customer service/hosting/access/etc. His main concern and I quote “we are proposing moving our sites from a company/to you, I have no doubts about your talent and ability to produce an amazing product, but what if you get hit by a bus tomorrow”. Another quote was “we have to protect ourselves from ourselves”. All great points, they are uneasy about a company that has no physical location to call about issues. You and I know that is not an issue, but I have to calm the fears of all involved and have a plan in place. So I am just getting my thoughts together and would be curious of yours!

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
