bollerrI have now setup another blog and would like to split my existing blog based on specific categories.
Is there a way to move, either specific posts or full categories to the new blog on wordpress?

No, there is no "easy" way other than copy and paste to export/import only the posts in a single category into a new wordpress.com blog.
I suppose you could export all the blog contents to your desktop, open the file and delete the posts you do not want but, that's a very tedious job with lots of opportunities for making errors.

You could subscribe to the particular tags you want in the feed, and get only those. That might be one shortcut.
