Missing facebook interactions when exporting from one WP blog to another

  1. Hi!
I exported posts and feedback from a wordpress.com blog to another. Somehow the facebook interactions have gone missing. Could anyone please advise how to export/import them successfully. Thanks!

The blog I need help with is angiepalmer.me.

  2. Hi there. I've tagged this thread for staff to follow up. Please subscribe to the thread and be patient while waiting for them to reply.

  3. Will you please provide the URL of the blog you are importing FROM and the URL of the blog you're importing TO, both as active links starting with http://

  4. Hi there!

Facebook interactions may only be preserved if the blog you're transferring to shares the exact blog post URL's as the one you're moving away from. Facebook references a lot on the blog post URL to keep track of the number of shares, likes and comments made on it. Any slight change in the URL or blog address will cause it to reset to zero.

Because of that, I'm afraid that the blog posts on "angiepalmer.me" will not inherit the Facebook interactions made on "angiepalmer.wordpress.com".

I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you have any follow up questions. Thanks!

Just to be clear, does that also apply to comments made on the blog while logged in via Facebook? (That's how I understood the OP's question.) And if so, what about comments made while logged in via Twitter or GooglePlus? Just for future reference...

  6. Hey Kokkieh!

I was under impression that the OP was referring to Facebook shares that have gone missing. :) But to answer your question, yes, comments made while logged into social media accounts should go along with the import without incident. :)

  7. I could have misunderstood as well, but thanks for the reply.

  8. Thanks. It was the FB shares and likes. So, I am gonna just have to point to the 'from' blog and post there. Cheers, guys.

  9. You're welcome Ansh!
