Modifying meta - information

  1. I'm using the Redoable Lite theme and desire to change the look of the meta information area. I have the CSS Upgrade and have modified it somewhat. I've removed the category info and the comment info, but I can't quite get what I'm after.

    I'd like to remove the different color gray box the meta info is displayed in and simply show the little person icon, the author name and the submitted date.

    Can I do this with just CSS or is this embedded in the theme HTML. I've spent hours pouring over the CSS and can't figure it out.

    TIA,
    Darren

  2. Let me clarify: this is not the META tag elements in HTML I'm referring to here. The CSS for the theme uses 'meta-row' and 'meta-column' for displaying authoring/commenting information...(new here so you may already know this...if so...sorry)

  3. If I understand you correctly, you want to remove the box, not the content?
    I think this #999 is the frame...

    /* @group Meta Links */
    /* The Metalink class takes care of the comments, edit, rss and trackback links next to the titles */
    #primary .metalink a, #primary .metalink a:visited,
    #primaryFirst .metalink a, #primaryFirst .metalink a:visited,
    .secondary .metalink a, .secondary .metalink a:visited,
    .secondary span a, .secondary span a:visited,
    .tertiary .metalink a, .secondary .metalink a:visited,
    .tertiary span a, .tertiary span a:visited {
    	color: #999;
    	font-weight: normal;
  4. changed my mind - I think this is the border...

    .first .entry-meta { /* Time and category for blog entries */
    	background: #444;
    	border: 1px solid #555;
    	color: #CCC;
    	display: block;
    	font-size: 0.9em;
    	line-height: 1.5em;
    	margin-left: 0px;
    	margin-top: 0px;
    	padding: 5px 0px;

    I could be wrong, though

  5. Using Firebug, the following removes the background color and the border around the author icon and author name.

    .entry-meta {
    background: none;
    border: none;
    }
  6. hehe - bow to the master!

  7. Uh... master? No. Proficient with Firebug and trial and error is about as close as I get. Firebug lets me look better than I actually am.

  8. Firebug? Never heard of that, time to check Google. ;)

    Through trial and error, I tried just about every combination I could think of but couldn't figure it out. With your 2 lines of code, you just made my whole week! Now...I just need the submitted date, but I'm not sure that's even in the html for the theme.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!!!!

  9. You're welcome. Firebug is an extremely useful plugin for Firefox.

    What exactly are you talking about with the "submitted" date? If it is the date on the blog posts, I know where that is also. What did you want to change?

  10. I will be having multiple blog authors contribute to the site. I'd like each entry to show the author and the date the entry is written. Something like the following:

    By Sally Smith - August 20, 2008

    Thanks again for the help!

  11. um..but you removed the date?
    And I think this is theme-spesific, so if one of your invited co-contributors tried it, it should work.
    (you need to invite contributors, and they need to set up a wp account)

  12. No, the date is still there in a rectangle to the left of the blog title.

    I don't know if what you want is doable through CSS. It is going to take someone better with CSS than me to say for sure.

  13. haha. indeed, there it is. It is a little too big to be visible.
    It should be doable - all the data is there. I'll see if I can come up with something later.

  14. You guys are amazing...I think I'd like to replace the date image? to the left of the title with a little picture or something. I wonder if that's possible...time to dig in I suppose.
