More efficient blacklist?

    Is there a better way to blacklist someone? I have just black listed someone for...

    - violating comment terms
    - blog threat
    - accusation of stealing with no proof
    - rude/mean comments

    and he has just come back with a proxy. It was marked as spam, but I want to know if I can completely block everything from this person. It truly angers me that he will come onto the internet (where you have full control over what you type) and say "Oh for [insert God's name with awd here] sake" on a child focused blog.

    In my experience from being cyber-harassed for 9 MONTHS which eventually led to them showing up at my house, is to COMPLETELY IGNORE them. It's the best form of blacklisting.

    Go to-

    Dashboard > Settings > Discussion

    And you can ban IP number and email address or any words under Comment Moderation and Comment Blacklist.

    One great reason not to use MySpace or Facebook. It's a wonder how they found out where you lived.

    I had this weirdo always threatening to kill me but I just kept on banning all her different IP numbers and emails. She either got tired and left or might be in prison for threatening to kill Tobey McGuire's fiance and her father. :O

    If someone makes a serious threat against you, please contact the police.

    You can stop someone from commenting based on their name, email address or IP:

    You can stop someone who changes names using the 'only allow comments by logged-in users' option. IP blocking is not very effective against persistent people.

    I agree with what all everyone is saying, but honestly the best blacklist is to ignore completely. Just creating this thread gives them a 'kick' and power.

    NO.

    You DELETE their comment.

    They are NOT SPAM and if you continue to do that I will send a warning to you.

    Akismet is to be used for actual spam, not to try and get people into trouble.

    @ Payton, I did not use MySpace or Facebook. They found out where I lived cuz I engaged them rather than ignored. Fed the troll until one day they posted my address info on their blog. How did they get that info? They're stalkers. you can find anything you want if ya put your crazed mind to it. Just ignore them!

    You DELETE their comment.

    They are NOT SPAM and if you continue to do that I will send a warning to you. His comments only went into the Akismet spam filter because they had his name, but I want to know if I can make it where his comments don't even appear there (it might become more of a pain than I think it to be if he continues to comment).

    I don't mark anything as spam myself.

    Akismet is to be used for actual spam, not to try and get people into trouble.

    But I didn't even mark it as spam.

    I am rather unsure why the excitement. I mean, why not let the kid has the liberty deal with his own blog? If he marks someone as spams, that someone won't be spammer to others, right?

    You should just ignore him lah~ You see, the point is, what he is doing is simply helping you to increase hits! Lol~ You should even thank him for that.

    If you read my blog, you'd get invalueable experience of how I encountered all sorts of 'harassments' before moving to WordPress. But all celebrities' blogs in Sohu or even Sina literally will encounter some sort of harassments, and I am pretty prepared for such publicity. Lol~

    Childish people, immature adults, silly and uneducated chuavanists... just loads. And how are you going to ban them all? For what? It's your online diary. Unless you shoo off googles and other search engines. For every one who likes Spears, someone may find her a bitch. That's just the world.

    Take it easy. Scope even receives a legal threat~! Welcome to the real world. You can't just be agitated with everyone... and it is also impossible to please everyone as well.

    I am just going to let him comment and delete them, his comments haven't really been worth something for a while in the first place. Just saying that he has copyright on an image mini-series and that my blog would be "closed without notice."

    Anyway, I thought I have explained the copyright issues? Didn't you explain to him?

    I suppose bloggers should bear this in mind... You are not going to please everyone, and should you go around expecting everyone to please you?

    Well, you can either 'debate' with him or you can just ignore him.

    BTW, why did Mark give you a warning??? I am very very curious. It must that serious for him to be busier to do that. :) Care to enlighten Scope?
