Hey All -
My blog is sierratripreports.wordpress.com. As you can see from the site, my home page is set up for particular posts showing just a selected intro using the <--more!--> code ("More Code"). I have always done it this way without issue as my individual posts tend to be long. In particular, some posts are multi-paged, and for those I still use the More Code on the home page to just show an excerpt.
The issue I am running into has come to my attention for what I will call "older posts". This issue arises either with (i) infitite scrolling on or (ii) infinite scrolling off and using the "Load More Posts" button. What I have noticed is the "More Code" is working properly for more recent posts on the home page, but when I show more posts on the home page (the "older posts") either through infinite scrolling or "Load More Posts", any older post that is multipaged does not work properly with the More Code.
What I specifically mean is that for some older posts that are multi-paged, rather than showing the designated excerpt on the home page, the entire post is showing (and in some cases it is not even starting on the first page after the More Code).
I can't figure out for the life of me why this is happening, and why it is only happening to older posts that are multi-paged. I never had this problem when my post-count was below the threshold for the Newer/Older Post structure.
You will see what I mean when you scroll down to the post entitled "Mega TR: Evolution Loop (inc. Goddard & N. Couloir on Lamarck)". That is the first multi-paged post after you first have scrolled past the initial home page, and the first time this happens. I triple checked the coding and the More Code and Next Page codes are placed identical in more recent posts.
Note: This is not just an issue from Inifinite Scrolling. I turned it off and set the show posts to 15. In that scenario, when I got past the first 15 and hit "Load More Posts", the same issue happened to any multi-paged post after that.
Any advice?
Thanks.
