Move blog to new account

  1. I would like to move a blog to a new account, and I want this new account name to match the blog. I know there is an option to transfer a blog, but this requires another account to already be made. It looks like the matching account name is unavailable to register since there is already a blog by that name. Is there any way to accomplish this?

The blog I need help with is sbuhsc.wordpress.com.

No. Usernames can be turned into blog addresses, but blog addresses cannot be turned into usernames. For most usernames and blog addresses are the same. When we register a WordPress.com username account the matching blog is automatically reserved for our future use. That reserved blog cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username.

  3. You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

  4. I already have the wordpress.com address that I want to keep (sbuhsc.wordpress.com). I would just like to separate this from my current account and place it on a new account with the matching username (sbuhsc). It seems to me that no one owns the username sbuhsc, it is just that the system is reserving it since I already own the address sbuhsc.wordpress.com on my current account.

  5. I made a new account with a new user name. I transferred my blog. Once I did that, it allowed me to update my user name on my new account. Hope this helps :)
