Move date, label & comments tag

  1. How do I move the date, labels and comments tag to be below the post entirely? I want the width of my posts to be larger and need to move this box to do so.

    The blog I need help with is paleoinportland.wordpress.com.

    This is a little more tricky than it seems like it would be. Here is some CSS that will remove all the styling from the left column in the Skeptical theme, put it on one line, make it full width, and pull the middle column out a bit so the widths match up:

    .post .middle {
    	width: auto;
    	padding-top: 5px;
    }
    .post .post-meta {
    	float: none;
    	overflow: hidden;
    	background: white;
    	color: #555;
    	font-size: 15px !important;
    	margin: 0 20px 0 0;
    	padding: 20px 0 0 20px;
    	text-shadow: none;
    	width: auto;
    }
    .post .post-meta .post-date {
    	background: none;
    	color: #555;
    	display: inline;
    	font-size: 15px !important;
    	font-weight: normal;
    	margin: 0;
    	padding: 0;
    	position: relative;
    }
    .post .post-meta .post-date .bg {
    	background: none;
    	display: inline;
    	height: auto;
    	position: relative;
    	right: auto;
    	top: auto;
    	width: auto;
    }

    .post .post-meta ul li,
    .post .post-meta > a {
    	background: none;
    	font-weight: normal;
    	padding: 0 0 0 .25em;
    	float: left;
    }
    .post .post-meta ul li a {
    	color: #555;
    }
  3. I'll see how this works and report back. Thanks!

  4. Okay, it works, is there a way to move the "leave a comment" text to the bottom, below the post and bold it? It gets lost at the top and is really small.

  5. This will move the comment link to the bottom left of posts just on the home page. Note that it also depends on the other CSS example already in this thread (they go together).

    .home .post {
    	position: relative;
    }
    .home .entry {
    	padding-bottom: 40px;
    }
    .home .post .post-meta .comments {
    	position: absolute;
    	left: 20px;
    	bottom: 0;
    	margin: 20px 0;
    	font-weight: bold;
    	text-decoration: underline;
    }

    You may also need to make a few additional adjustments. If you want to move things around, try adjusting some of the margin and padding values. If you find anything else out of place, make a note and post back here and we'll help you sort it out.

  6. Wow, thanks for all your help! I like the date at the top, but don't care for the categories being listed up top above the post title. I think I'd rather have it at the bottom. Can you help with this? Also, is there a way to have the comments at the bottom on the individual posts as well (and not just the home page)?
