move from wordpress.com to wordpress.org

    I'm relatively new to wordpress.com and wish to transfer to wordpress.org for a better platform...I'm maintaining a website with the domain name from godaddy and hosting is run by a diff company...what's the first step? Can you send some links on how to go about it? I'm working on budget...i tried to download the software wordpress.org but didn't work...

    The blog I need help with is stjamescoolidge.wordpress.com.

    Are you referring to moving content form the free hosted WordPress.com blog linked to your username which has been deleted? If so and if you did not export the contents out of the blog prior to deleting it then they are gone and we cannot help you as there are no back-ups.

    Have you registered a username account at http://wordpress.ORG
    If not you will need to do that as all support for setting up your WordPress.ORG self hosted install must come from http://wordpress.ORG/support/

    frjotabo is my WP username and blog name. yesterday, I deleted it "frjotabo blog" while in the process of transferring files because it seemed it wasn't working well..."title of the posts showed up but not the content" i was impatient so, i decided to delete the blog with the hope i can still recover it and thought it was the best way to start the whole process again that is, of moving my posts and content from blogger to the deleted blog frjotabo.wordpress.com.

    Are you saying i cannot recover the downloaded xml files from my blogger account? what if i start the entire process again from scratch...export xml files from blogger and import them in wordpress...?

    my concern is different although it's related. I have another blog: http://stjamescoolidge.wordpress.com/ which i want to transfer to wordpress.org to expand my blog and put more info.

    i'll just check out wordpress.org/support to get more tips...
