Move subscribers from wordpress.com > wordpress.org?

    Hello!

    Our Link Dead Gaming site is in progress at http://www.linkdeadgaming.com/wordpress (wordpress.org); we are moving over from linkdeadgaming.wordpress.com, and I am also merging chaelura.wordpress.com into the new one.

    How do we move all our hard-earned subscribers/followers from our old wordpress.com blogs over there?

    (On a related note, are the users the same across both sites? How does that work? Can wordpress.com users click "Follow" at the top on our wordpress.org site?)

    Would greatly appreciate the help!

    The blog I need help with is chaelura.wordpress.com.

    Will you please install the JetPack plugin on ypur WordPress.cog install and then Staff will move your subscribers for you.

    Can wordpress.com users click "Follow" at the top on our wordpress.org site?

    No. That "follow" link appears only on our WordPress.com free hosted blogs. The "like" button is also only for WordPress.com bloggers and ypu will find the WordPress.com in house widgets are not included in the WordPress.org install. Once you move your blog off this blogging platform it's not longer part of the WordPress.com community. The new install is a stand alone island and you get all support here http://wordpress.org/support/

    We have JetPack installed on the wordpress.org site (linkdeadgaming.com/wordpress), is that the right place?

    Jetpack does not appear to be active under your chaelura account.

    Which account did you activate it with?

    It is activated currently with linkdeadgaming I believe... but now since we're merging my blog into the new linkdeadgaming w/WordPress.org, we wanted to move followers from both to the new site. Is that doable? (Maybe we activate with LGD, move stuff, then activate with Chaelura?)

    We don't have any WordPress.com users with the username linkdeadgaming

    Would you please double-check which user you connected Jetpack with?

    I don't see any Jetpack blogs active under the WordPress.com account bloodeagle.

    When you activated Jetpack and connected it to WordPress.com, which WordPress.com username did you use for the connection?

    My co-host forgot that when we started our site with you, BloodEagle was taken and pointed to an empty site, so when I created my account I did it under BloodEagleLDG. That is the account that our .org site is hooked to .com with through Jetpack.

    I hope that clears up any confusion and the process can start. If anything else is needed from me, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Thank you MacManX! :D If we wanted to also move subscribers for my blog, do we change the Jetpack connection? (If we do that will anything else happen?)

    (Something is messed up on both our sites at the moment... BloodEagle is still trying to figure out what happened :( )

    OK, I have horrible news... our new host apparently had to wipe out everything on our new site (http://www.linkdeadgaming.com/wordpress) and rebuild; as such, none of our followers are there anymore :(

    I also see that they're not listed on our old .com site either... is there any way to restore them (from both chaelura.wordpress.com and linkdeadgaming.wordpress.com) and move them again to the new site?

    I am so sorry... this has been a nightmare :(

    Thanks SO much Macmanx, we cannot express in words how much we appreciate this, as this whole thing has been a nightmare and we thought we were going to lose touch with all of those that were subscribed to the site.

    Hi

    I actually googled this post.
    But I would like to say great work macmanx. You really are kind!!!

    I have a wordpress blog, which I have hardly used.
    (that's wordpress.com), however I have used wordpress.org a lot! But at the moment I want to do the following and need some advice:

    1.Create new wordpress.com blog
    2.set it up, get followers, post (do this for a few months)
    3.Move it to wordpress.org install.

    My questions are:
    1. Can I move posts and pages and how?
    2. Can I move plugins or do I have to reinstall? Amd themes?
    3. Can I register a domain with another registrar besides wordpress and still transfer?
    4. Do wordpress staff have to move subscribers or can I?
    5. Can you provide me with any links to explain the procedure?

    P.S. I apologize if it is not appropriate to poost here and initially I just wanted to say 'Great wor' but since this post came up in the top ten results in google for 'wordpress.com transfer wordpress.org' I believe it would help others like me.

    Hey Macmanx - I found this forum via Google and noticed you very helpful in the transfer of subscribers. Would you be able to transfer my subscribers to http://www.theedgyveg.com. Jetpack is setup!
