Movin to wordpress.org

  1. Hello i would like to run my own wordpress.org server, but i have a couple of questions.
    Maybe someone can help me...
Will i still have the Stat view i had here, i mean it is important for me to take the stats i already had, with me.
Will links i set onto other blogs or people posted onto forums, to artikels i wrote on my domain http://www.decoyegheist.wordpress.com still work when i import them to wordpress.org?
Does RSS still work, and will the readers who already have subscribed to my feed still get updates?
Will feedburner still work after i change the servers?
Will technorati still work after i change the servers?
Is it possible to do all this somehow if it wont for for any reason?

  2. Will i still have the Stat view i had here, i mean it is important for me to take the stats i already had, with me.

No, any new stats would start from zero (unless you can give the start number) and the way you view stats here would not be there either

Will links i set onto other blogs or people posted onto forums, to artikels i wrote on my domain http://www.decoyegheist.wordpress.com still work when i import them to wordpress.org?

No. They will go to the wordpress.com blog.

Does RSS still work, and will the readers who already have subscribed to my feed still get updates?
Will feedburner still work after i change the servers?

You will need to give them your new feed address I think**

Will technorati still work after i change the servers?

Yes, but you might lose rankings for a while**

** Someone with more experience will be along soon to give better information.

  3. If they're pulling their feed directly from the blog, they'll have to change the URl on their end.

If they're pulling via Feedbruner, you change the URL yourself with Feedburner.

Promote your move for a week or so ahead of time. If they can't take the hint by then....

  4. Thanks, for all those answers so far, but it got some more questions here, what about google, the things that google lists, does it have to crawl all this again?
Or do simply change the server and will it be found the same way?

  5. Same answer. It depends on what URL the end user has. if it's directly to the blog, they'll have to change it. If it's to a service that you've set up for folks, you have to change it for them.

  6. what about plugins that i have been using in my WP.com blog, all my posts have those square bracketed tags for googlevideo, digg etc. Can i download the exact WP.com plugins when i move over? (is there a list of the exact pugins they use somewhere?)

  7. You can get plug-ins for your wordpress.org blog by asking for help at http://wordpress.org/support That being said, there are some widgets that are made only for wordpress.com multi-user blogging platforms. And these will not be available for use on your new wordpress.org blog.

  8. http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins

The wp.com ones are different as it's a different platform than regular wordpress.

And, dude. Let's watch the multiple posting, ok? Zero need for it.

  9. The best place to ask about what is available is at the link TT gave.
That is the same place where you will get the support for your blog elsewhere.

  10. Is it possible to have the blog stats overview wordpress.com had?
I mean the one you where seeing under blog stats and feedstats here?

  11. No the stats program that's beta at wordpress.com is not available for wordpress.org blogs (different software) but there are other stats programs over there that are. Please go to http://wordpress.org/support and ask your questions there.

  12. There's a number of stats programs available. You may want to take a look at http://codex.wordpress.org for assistance.
