Moving back to wordpress.com

  1. Hello,

I'd like to move my blog theketchupwar.com from wordpress.org back to wordpress.com and I'd also like to move all my followers with me but I don't know how to go about that. Do I have to delete the original wordpress.com blog and start over or do something else? Thanks so much,

    Jenny

The blog I need help with is theketchupwar.com.

  2. Don't delete anything - you can export your posts and pages from your .ORG install and import them here -

Once your blog here is like you want it - change the name servers and buy domain mapping

If your followers are being managed with JetPack then the staff can move them for you

    If you have email

  3. Awesome. So I've changed everything over and everything except my pictures moved which I guess isn't too much of a problem as I can just reupload them. Now I need to get my followers moved back over. I think I only gained 5 more in the time I was on wordpress.org (it didn't last long) so it shouldn't be too much trouble to move them.

  4. OK, so I DID change everything over and it was showing up as my old wordpress.com site when I typed in the web address and that lasted maybe 12 hours and now it's reverted back to the old .org site! What happened?!!

  5. Ok, I've checked, my nameservers are all correct. I was ON my old site and everything was fine. I exported the other site, imported it, set it all up and boom, it's all reverted back despite the namesevers saying they're pointing to wordpress.com now. I really don't understand!

  6. The nameservers appear to be set up correctly for theketchupwar.com. theketchupwar.com is set as the primary domain for theketchupwar.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site.

After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the set up it can take between 24 - 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. It's not uncommon to see the URls switching back and forth. It's not uncommon for your ISP to be last to flush their caches. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What's important during that stage is to be patient.

  7. Ah, ok. So it's normal for it to go back and forth? That's super weird but I guess tis the way. I'll wait a few days and if it hasn't changed back, I'll repost. Thanks. :)
