Moving specific posts from one blog to another

  1. I want to start a new blog of a more specific topic content that my current blog and I want to move over specific posts including attached photos from the first blog to the second blog leaving the first blog intact and active (less the moved posts) and I want the posts I move to the new blog to retain their original dates and comments and likes, etc.

I have seen the posts about exporting and importing, but will it work in this instance? Should I export and import posts one at a time?

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is carolvanzandt.net.

  2. Probably the best way to do this would be to create a new category and assign that category to the posts you want to move. Then during the export process, you can specify to move only the posts in that particular category. After you get them moved over, you can delete that temporary category on the new site. During the import, make sure and select to have wordpress copy over the images as well.

On the existing site, you can then filter the posts list by that category and that will make it easier to delete those posts.
