Moving Subscribers

  1. Hi,

I wish to move subscribers and stats across from a .com site to a self hosted .org site. The advice was to contact wordpress when I wish to do this. The link to contact brought me to the support page.

How do I reach the appropriate support people to help me?

    Cheers
    Jon

The blog I need help with is bigoadventures.com.

  2. Hello,

I've followed all the instructions but haven't heard from wordpress about the changeover.

Is there anything further I can do to contact them or will they reach me?

    Jon

    WordPress.com to self-hosted site

If you are getting ready to go to a self-hosed WordPress site and would like to bring your subscribers with you, we can also help you with that but you’ll need to do a bit of preparation first:

On your self-hosted WordPress site, install the Jetpack plugin, connect it to WordPress.com with your WordPress.com username, and make sure the Subscriptions module is activated.
Optionally, add the Jetpack Subscriptions widget to your sidebar.
Optionally, on your WordPress.com site from which you’ll want to transfer your followers, post a notice telling your site’s followers that you’ll be moving, and that their subscriptions will be going along with you. This is because, while your email subscribers will continue to receive email notifications of new posts as before, WordPress.com followers will only see new posts in the Reader. They will not receive email updates unless they subscribe to receive those on your new site, which they can do if you’ve added the Subscriptions widget.
Once your Jetpack is connected and ready to go, and you’ve informed your readers about your upcoming move, contact us and we’ll move your subscribers for you.

  3. I have flagged this for the staff to help

They are on a retreat plotting how to rule the world or something like that :) , but they are helping in the forum, please be patient

  4. Thanks for the referral.

I'm still waiting patiently for even a reply saying they are on the case.

    ;-)

  5. Hello Jon,

I have responded to your email sent on the 29th with more details about the transfer. To keep things simple let's use that email to communicate any questions regarding the process.
