Moving subscribers from wordpress.com to self hosted site

  1. Hi,

I would like to move my subscribers from my wordpress.com page to a self hosted site. I've installed jetpack as recommended but the 'contact us' to move subscribers link keeps bringing me to this page! Hope someone can help,

    Cath

The blog I need help with is blatantblithe.wordpress.com.

  2. As you have installed and activated the JetPack plugin http://jetpack.me on your WordPress.org install, and you posted the relevant URL(s) into a forum thread, Staff will do the transfer of both subscribers and stats for you. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/#wordpress-com-to-self-hosted-site I have tagged this thread for their attention. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  3. Thank you so much! :-)

  4. You're welcome.

  5. Just so that I am clear when I do the migration, can you list both and and new blog URLs.

  6. The old blog is http://blatantblithe.wordpress.com - I want to move my email subscribers from this blog to the new site, http://www.catherineelms.co.uk.

  7. I have migrated your subscribers and followers to your new site.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

  8. Hello, I would like to migrate subscribers from barcelonacolours.wordpress.com to barcelonacolours.com. Could you help me?

    Thanks :)

  9. @baseecho

I'm seeing a jetpack site connected to 213.37.121.152 and not to barcelonacolours.com. Can you please disconnect and reconnect to barcelonacolours.com?

  10. Hello @rootjosh, I have disconnected and connected again :)

    Thanks

  11. Hmmm, that didn't work.

Okay, I've made a change on my end. Can you disconnect and reconnect one more time please?

  12. @baseecho

That last post was for you. Sorry for not indicating.

  13. @rootjosh done! Thanks :)

  14. @baseecho

I have migrated your subscribers and followers to your new site.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

  15. Hello @rootjosh, Subscribers are not imported on our new blog. It says that theres is only 1, but there are 232 in barcelonacolours.wordpress.com.

    Can you help us?

    Thanks

  16. @baseecho

I have tracked down the mistake. Give me a few minutes and I can fix it.

  17. Okay, that should be fixed now. Can you check?

  18. @rootjosh nothing yet. There are still 1 only wordpress follower and 23 email followers :(

  19. Can you disconnect Jetpack and reconnect please?

  20. @rootjosh Done! :)

  21. And are you seeing the subscribers now?

  22. @rootjosh nothing jet :(

  23. @rootjosh yes I can see that page, but the numbers are different from the last count I saw this morning.

I have just check http://barcelonacolours.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats&blog=27634632&blog_subscribers and they have disapeared! All of them O_O

    Is there any problem?

  24. I have just check http://barcelonacolours.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats&blog=27634632&blog_subscribers and they have disapeared! All of them O_O

That page shows the subscribers for your WordPress.com site. Those subscribers were moved to your jetpack connected self-hosted site. That is why there are zero there now. The subscribers cannot exist in two places at once.

Keep in mind that only WordPress.com and email subscribers can be migrated. Followers who foll via Facebook or Twitter cannot be migrated because we do not have any control over Facebook or Twitter users. However, once you have your new site reconnected to those networks, one can assume that those followers will be following you once again.

  25. Hello @rootjosh, I know that, i am not worried about socual media followers, I am concerned about wordpress and email followers. When I access site stats of barcelonacolours.com jetpack plugin, it shows only 1 wordpress follower and 22 email followers. The page you show me shows a different count (83 wordpress and 161 email) and yesterday the original site stats page, on barcelonacolours.wordpress.com/wp-admin, showed 232 wordpress followers and 151 email followers.

    I don't understand

  26. Hello @rootjosh, I have just checked the url you give me yesterdey without the last part: http://wordpress.com/my-stats/?blog=39113290 and it belongs to other blog: Desmadreando.com. So I supose you have transfered barcelonacolours.wordpress.com followers to desmadreando.com. Is that right? Can be undone?

    Thanks

  27. Okay, so I've figured this out.

The account you are posting from has a barcelonacolours.com domain Jetpack connected site. However, much to my confusion, it is not the right one.

The correct barcelonacolours.com Jetpack site is connected via another WordPress.com user account.

Since I need both sites connected under the same WordPress.com site to transfer followers, you are going to need to do one of two things:

    1. Disconnect Jetpack and reconnect with the account that you are posting from.

    or

    2. Log into WordPress.com with the other account and post a migration request confirmation on this thread.

  28. @rootjosh ok, done. I have connected jetpack to my account.

    Thanks for your help :)

  29. Hooray! Now I think we're getting somewhere. Give me a few minutes to run the migration again and we'll cross our fingers.
