Moving wordpress.com Blog to another host

  1. I have a wordpress.com blog that I would like to move to my godaddy hosting. Can someone please tell me how to do that with step 1, step 2 type instructions pleeeaaaassee... I tried to find the answer here in the forums but was not successful. If there is a link, please post it and I will follow that.

    Thanks so much, RJ

  2. I don't know that there is a step-by-step, but here is some information for you.

You need to secure hosting and get a domain name. Then you need to download and install the wordpress.org software on your new site. Next you need to export your posts from wordpress.com (manage > export). You then have to import your links to the new blog via blogroll > import links in the dashboard on your new blog. You will have to reassign categories to the links if you have categories other than "blogroll."

There is a group of users that will install the software for you and get it up and running: http://install4free.wordpress.net/ . Some web hosts will install it for you, sometimes for free and sometimes for a fee.
