I've read that there are downloadable plugins that give multilanguage support. That is, if I want to blog the same things in several different languages and allow the readers to choose a language themselves.
But is this feature available for blogs on wordpress.com?
No plugins are allowed at all on WP.com. The software is different here.
Best bet would be to link your site to Google Translate and place it as a text widget in your sidebar for people to translate your site.

If you can write in multiple languages, possibly have one blog for each language, otherwise Trent's approach works for monolinguals like myself.
