MY ACCOUNT AND TWO BLOGS HAVE BEEN DELETED OVERNIGHT?

  1. I have 2 blogs under the name of ahhdorable.wordpress.com and massieblockblawggie.wordpress.com The username, I use for both these blogs is massieblockblawggie. I logged into this username approximately 10 hours ago. I just logged in now, and am not able to do so. I tried both urls, and both of my blogs have been "deleted by the author" I have not done anything of this sort. I also checked my emails to see if there was the deleting-blog-confirmation email and I have not received anything of this sort. I also tried the forgotten-password method and put in my email but it says, that the email is not registered. I visited some blogs that I commented on in the past week and my gravatar is gone but it still links back to my old site. I AM VERY FRUSTRATED. PLEASE HELP. I am currently using my other blogging account to post this question.

  2. I've tagged this so a moderator or a staff member will be along to help...

  3. Change your email password - that is the most common method of getting into a blog

Someone has flagged this for staff attention - I have put some general guidelines below - some will apply to you some won't

The only “hacked” sites I have seen here have been people getting the password somehow to a site so you do want to be careful how you log in and use a tough password.

You should also check to make sure that someone has not added a new user to your site. Problems have also happened when there was more than one Admin. and an Admin left on less than graceful terms.

    Dashboard >> Users

There have also been a few Posts on “hacked” sites and it was because someone got the Post by Email address and using the Post by Email to send in new Posts, if you have Post by email disable the Post by Email and regenerate the address. Spammers have scripts the generate email addresses and they sometimes can get a valid address for a Post by Email address.

If you are really concerned you could as the staff to look at your site: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

You could also use a secure log-in in case you are on an unsecured link: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

  4. Do you still have access to the account's API key? This was included in your Welcome email with a note to keep it in a safe place.

We'll need this to prove ownership of the account.

  5. http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/

It says that wordpress doesn't have api keys anymore?

  6. I think the api key I have for my ahhdorable account is available. Do I just put it here?

  7. No, email it to support at wordpress dot com. It's something you should keep private between you and staff.

  8. APIs keys still exist for old accounts and can be used to prove ownership, we just don't give them out with new accounts.

Don't post it here. I'll send an email to the address on your account. Please reply to that with your API key.

  9. "Do you still have access to the account's API key? This was included in your Welcome email with a note to keep it in a safe place.

When I read this, I got nervous and checked through all my correspondence pertaining to my blog and no, I do NOT have this. While I don't need it at the moment, if something happens, lacking this piece of email ... poof ... it's all gone. That's it. Disappeared without a trace? Is that possible? Such a fragile structure that it depends entirely on one single item?

So what do I do? How can I get a copy of it? Or am I just living on borrowed time and all the work I've put into it will eventually blow up and be gone forever because of this one email ... for want of my "welcome letter" and because I get so much email, and so many of them tell me I have to save them ... and it is possible that I completely missed it ... It seems a bit irrational and unrealistic that the entire retrieval of ones account is exclusively dependent on ONE email that I will bet that at least half of us ... maybe more ... did NOT save, or, if we did, couldn't find if our lives depended on it.

    Suggestions??

Nervously inquiring minds would really like to know!!!!

  10. https://akismet.com/resend/ you can add your email and they'll send it to you
