My blog doesn't open.

  1. I've a self hosted wordpress blog at http://techgossips.co.cc which was working well. Yesterday, I thought of putting tweetmeme widget in it. For doing so I needed to update two files in my theme, one wp-functions.php and another single.php. I copied the php script for the widget and pasted it in functions.php file and clicked update. Just after clicking update I got a error page of 505 internal server error.

Now the website has stopped opening so I neither can view it, nor I can go to wp-admin. But I can open this link http://techgossips.co.cc/readme.html and ftp too works well. Please help me..

  2. Sorry, you are in the wrong forum and need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG are supported.

These forums are for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service and things here work differently and our answers typically will not work for you.

If you do not know the difference, see this support document: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ .

  3. You know, I would stay as far away from anything associated with tweetmeme. Their code has been completely crap and I finally got tired of reporting errors and problems with it. It is obviously a pre-school finger painting project.

Download the version of wordpress you are using, unzip it and then replace those two files.

There is also a possibility that the tweetmeme stuff has corrupted or broken your MySQL database.

  4. If it's broken your database, I really hope you've been doing regular backups. If not, trying to fix and sort out the MySQL database will be a daunting task.

  5. Problem solved, it was due to crap tweetmeme php code. Thanks for replying.
